Unilever inaugurates HUF 2.7bn capacity expansion in Hungary

 
UK-Dutch household products giant Unilever on Friday inaugurated a HUF 2.7bn investment at its plant in Nyirbator (NE Hungary), boosting the unit's capacity by 60pc, said Unilever Magyarorszag communications director Kalman Molnar.

Unilever will move some production from plants in Western Europe that it has shut down to its base in Hungary. The expansion was completed in one year. Unilver's plant in Nyirbator turns out 220m units of household chemicals and cosmetics a year. The products are sold in Hungary as well as in 30 other European countries. Unilever also has an ice cream plant in Veszprem (NW Hungary) and a food plant in Roszke (SE Hungary). Unilever Magyarorszag had revenue of HUF 76bn in 2008 and it employs 970 people in Hungary.
